Bayshore Enhances Healthcare in Northern Indigenous Communities in Ontario, Alberta, and Manitoba
Bayshore HealthCare, a leading provider of home and community care services in Canada, holds a multi-year contract to serve as the primary nursing provider for northern communities in Ontario, Alberta, and Manitoba, as well as the paramedic provider for northern Manitoba.
Expanding Health Services in Northern Communities
As the primary provider, Bayshore significantly enhances the availability of high-quality community health relief support services in remote, isolated, and semi-isolated Indigenous communities across Ontario, Alberta, and Manitoba through its Northern Staffing Division. This initiative focuses on improving access to essential primary care services, available 24/7, in 49 ISC-managed health facilities. Primary care is critical to the health and safety of these communities, and the initiative also aims to empower local communities through health education and preventative measures.
Bayshore’s Commitment to Quality Care
“Bayshore has been a top healthcare staff provider in northern communities for over 25 years,” says Chantal Matte, Director of Operations of Bayshore Northern Staffing. “We believe each of us can create special moments and improve the lives of those we care for and work with. Our nurses appreciate the chance to travel, learn about new cultures, and deliver essential health care to northern communities.”
The Northern Staffing Program
Since 1997, Bayshore’s Northern Staffing program has empowered nurses and nurse practitioners to offer primary care, advanced clinical assessments, and mental health services in health centres, nursing stations, hospitals, long-term care facilities, and client homes. These temporary assignments serve northern, rural, remote, isolated, and Indigenous communities.
Josee Henophy, Manager of Clinical Practice at Northern Staffing, shares her experience: “I’ve been a travelling remote Registered Nurse at Bayshore for eight consecutive years and really enjoy the opportunity to travel to northern Canada to provide primary and acute emergency care to Indigenous populations. Immersing myself in Indigenous culture, learning to gather traditional foods and medicines, and participating in community events have been incredibly enriching experiences.”

Bayshore is actively seeking dedicated professionals to join its team. Current opportunities include:
- Community Health Nurse (RN)
