Hamza Khan, Nursing Client Service Team Lead for Bayshore Home Care Solutions

While Hamza Khan has only been with Bayshore for a little over a year, his positive energy and commitment to improving the client experience is already making a big impact on clients and employees in southwestern Ontario.

“Hamza has proven to be a valuable member and has received a warm welcome from the team. His positive attitude is infectious, and every day is a ‘Happy Day’ with Hamza on our team. I am happy to work closely with Hamza and believe he will continue to make a difference,” says Cameo Quinn, Client Service Manager, and Hamza’s manager.

Hamza Khan wears many different hats in his role as Nursing Team Lead, including overseeing both the Nursing and Home Support Departments at the Bayshore branch in Hamilton, ON. He also pioneered short-term goals such as redesigning policies and making it easier for nurses to operate.

Before joining Bayshore, Hamza studied Kinesiology at McMaster University, in Hamilton, ON. That’s where he found his passion for the human body, exercise, science, and physiology. During university, Hamza worked at the McMaster sports rehabilitation clinic. When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, Hamza was working at the Chartwell retirement and long-term care homes as an activity coordinator. This experience led him to take an interest in seniors’ wellness.

“I saw the challenges that retirement homes faced during the pandemic and questioned how we could make the residents’ lives better,” says Hamza.

Hamza felt that if he were in a leadership position, he would be able to work with others to improve seniors’ lives and adapt operations for the pandemic. To achieve his goal of a leadership position, Hamza went back to McMaster in September, 2021 to get a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree.

When thinking about his most memorable moment at Bayshore so far, he recalls a team-building exercise he organized to get his team out of the pandemic mindset and to do more in-person activities. Through his efforts, he was able to get 30 of his colleagues to participate.

“We spent one week as our first kickoff for our engagement project doing a team challenge, which was the Marshmallow Tower building challenge to simulate working together as a team,” says Hamza.

As for his long-term goals, Hamza plans to grow his career with Bayshore and is committed to staying with the organization long-term. He believes Bayshore is a great place to work because it is truly committed to its employees’ development. Hamza also appreciates the organization’s philosophy of learning through experience and leveraging each other’s strengths for effective collaboration.

“My philosophy is that it is important to scrape your knee a few times to learn effectively. This means that it is important to embrace discomfort and uncertainty in order to achieve one’s goals, and that’s a philosophy that Bayshore fosters. The company truly sees talent in and leverages on their employee’s strengths,” says Hamza.
